Down East
Sale
The
North
Carolina
Angus
Association’s
Down East
Sale was
held
Saturday,
November 1,
2008 at the
Sampson
County
Livestock
Arena in
Clinton,
North
Carolina. A
big thank
you goes out
to Roy
Outlaw
committee
chairman,
and the
entire Down
East Sale
committee
for bringing
together a
great group
of
consignments.
Friday was a
crisp, cool
fall day.
All the
cattle
arrived by
late
afternoon
were penned
and ready
for
Saturday.
Thank you to
Bettie
Garner for
the
Brunswick
stew on
Friday, it
hit the
spot.
Saturday
morning the
sun was out
and it was a
beautiful
fall day. We
had 51 lots
of
registered
Angus cattle
for sale and
two donkeys.
21 lots were
dispersal
lots from
Muddy Creek
Angus,
Donald
Pickett of
Pink Hill.
After 34
years in the
Angus
business,
Mr. Pickett
decided
because of
health and
age to sell
his cattle
as part of
the Down
East Sale.
There were
13 lots of
cow/calf
pairs topped
by lot 15 &
15A
consigned by
Graham
Quinn, Quinn
Angus Farm
of Pink Hill
Lot 15 was a
Sitz
Traveler
Q6069
daughter
with an
April
granddaughter
of Hyline
Right. The
lot sold for
$1,700.00 to
Braxton
Rouse of
Seven
Springs. The
cow/calf
pairs
averaged
$1,546.00.
A large
group of 23
bred cows
averaged
$1,128.00
and were
topped by
lot 11 from
Quinn Angus
Farm
bringing
$1,750.00.
She was also
a Sitz
Traveler
Q6069
daughter and
is bred to
AA 5137
Hyline RT
338; she was
purchased by
Lee
Carpenter of
Nashville,
NC.
The 15 bred
heifers
averaged
$1,463.00.
Keaton
Vandemark,
Vandemark
Angus,
Spring Hope,
had
consigned
five flush
sisters out
of OCC Erica
Lassie 842J
and BT Right
Time 24J.
Lot 24, safe
in calf to

Magnitude
805M, was
the top
selling lot,
selling for
$2,000.00 to
Greg Mouse
of Elk City,
Oklahoma.

$3,700.00.

purchased by
H.P. Debnam
of Atkinson,
NC. Lot 30A,
a UPRS

daughter was
purchased by
Terry Best
of
Goldsboro,
NC.
Volume buyer
was Braxton
Rouse of
Seven
Springs. Mr.
Rouse
purchased 16
lots for
$20,850.00.
H.P. Debnam
of Atkinson
purchased 14
lots for
$14,400.00.
Jerry Staley
of North
Wilkesboro
consigned
two donkeys.
Mr. Debnam
purchased
the donkey
to help
protect the
cattle he
purchased.
Total
sale gross
was
$68,700.00.
Thank you to
the
consigners
and the
buyers for
making this
another
successful
sale. The
consigners
worked hard
to bring
some of the
most current
and top
genetics to
the sale.
